Adverts are the bane of our online experience, with platforms like YouTube the worst offenders. So we’ve got a simple hack to make them a bit more bearable.
Not willing to fork out £12 a month for YouTube’s ad-free tier? We hear you. While My Ad Centre won't get rid of the ads completely, it’s a handy tool that ensures the adverts you see are at least relevant to you, making that six seconds before you skip more tolerable.
In My Ad Centre, you’ll see all the topics that Google thinks you may be interested in (based on your past data). However, Google doesn’t always get it right. So if you aren’t interested in a specific topic, you can downvote using the minus icon on any topic, brand, or sensitive subject you’re targeted with. Personally, I’m not that interested in Network Security Software that gets peddled to me, so that’ll be getting a downvote from me!
So whether you’re bored, offended or just downright confused with the ads you’re getting, perhaps it’s time for a little curation.
