Everybody loves a free SEO tool. Google search operators is one such little helper, great for a better understanding of how Google views your website. There are plenty of options and variations, so we’ll show you our top five.
Google advanced search operators are commands that extend Google's regular search capabilities, making it easier to filter and find information. All you need to do to replicate the search operators below is to replace what’s in the quote marks with your own query.
1. Want to know how many search engine results return for a specific domain? The site operator forces Google to only show results from the domain mentioned.
site:“domain.com”
2. Want to find websites with similar content and structure to your own? The related operator shows similar websites to your domain. The bigger the site the easier it is for Google to return similar content. This can be a great way to unearth competitors that have previously escaped your radar.
related:“domain.com”
3. The inurl operator asks Google to only show pages with the word (or words) from the query in the URL. That’s how you can see if a website has a page relating to your own product or brand.
inurl:“hubspot”
4. The define operator removes any brand connotations to words. For example, define:apple shows actual apples, which you won’t get just by typing apple into Google.
Define:“apple”
5. And lastly, the cache: operator locates the most recent cached version of a specific web page. If you’ve recently updated your content or design, this command will show you if and when Google crawled the new changes.
cache:“hubspot.com”
